What is a manifested load?

Manifest

THE 30-SECOND ANSWER

A manifest is the supplier's list of what is on the load, typically model, quantity, condition and a retail reference value.

In plain English

A manifested load tells you what you are buying before it arrives. An unmanifested load is cheaper per unit because you are accepting the unknown.

Retail values on a manifest are reference figures, not what you will get. Build your own expected sell price by model and grade.

Example

A manifest lists 140 units with $96,000 of retail reference value on an $18,000 load.

Why it matters

It is the only pre-purchase data you get, and it decides whether you bid.
